Minneapolis Convention Center
Minneapolis, Minnesota

A major expansion of the Minneapolis Convention Center completed in 2002. The expansion added approximately 600,000 additional square feet to the complex. Of this total, 190,000 square feet will be dedicated to exhibition space. This space is subdivisible into several smaller components. 60,000 square feet will be dedicated to some 44 individual meeting rooms. A focus of the expansion space was the 3,400 set auditorium.

The auditorium is divisible and includes 3 presentation turntables. Lobbies, public concourses and pre-function areas round out the public areas of the expansion. Wrightson, Johnson, Haddon & Williams (WJHW) was responsible for acoustical and noise control recommendations as well as for the design of the sound reinforcement systems in each of the areas described above. Additionally, WJHW designed the multi-media projection systems throughout the expansion space.
