Theatrical Consulting & Design

The stage to audience relationship is as important as the stage to dressing rooms and scenic shops. The theatre consultant provides insight into the theatre operation for the benefit of the architectural design team. Consulting and design recommendations are provided to ensure that the performance space meets the needs of the technical staff, audience, and performers. Space-planning includes the allotment of space and relationship for the most efficient flow of personnel and equipment.

Programming is provided from the perspective of the theatre technician, designer, and performer. Does the facility design provide each member of the theatre company with the proper tools and environment in which to display their art form? Are construction costs in line with the technical systems and support spaces? Consideration is also given to the design and composition of the stage floor. Spaces adjacent to the stage are reviewed for access and noise isolation. Structural and electrical requirements are developed for the project engineers.
Theatre Sightline Study

Sightline studies allow the design team to see what the audience sees-before the seating is installed. Design development may include design of catwalks, the stage house, control rooms, follow-spot booths, audio recording booths, equipment rooms, dressing rooms, green room, and scenic shop.
